Re-source - prospects for contemporary jewellery and object making 14th Jewellers and Metalsmiths Group of Australia Biennial Conference

The Jewellers and Metalsmiths Group of Australia is holding its 14th Biennial Conference in Perth, Western Australia, from the 9-11 April, 2010 with workshops in the three days preceding and the week following. The conference brings together practitioners, educators, collectors, critics and cultural theorists for three days of discussion, debate, interaction and the exchange of ideas.

Re-source focuses on harnessing and reinterpreting resources - the natural materials and the innovation of makers - to further enhance and encourage a vibrant creative industry in jewellery and object making in Australia and beyond. The Conference has three main areas of focus:

*

Unearthing the past: contemporary practice as a statement of history
*

Materials exploration: technology as a process, and process as a resource
*

Prospecting future directions: progressing the old and new

Forgot to say, the stop you want, on Aberdeen St, is listed on the drop-down box for Centering the map as TAFE.

Okay. There's a RED Cat stop quite close to the hotel, just a little way along the Terrace, past Hill Street. You could ride the Red to its Barrack Street/Murray St stop, then hop off and catch the Blue Cat right there. Alternatively, you could take a short stroll from the hotel, West along the Terrace up to Barrack Street. Turn in either direction and you're only a very short distance from a Blue stop. Find the real time CAT maps here:

Hope that helps!

There is a free city transit system here called the CAT bus. Given that the Sheraton is on the Terrace, I imagine there would be a stop very close by. They complete their circuit every few minutes during the day.
There is a Blue CAT stop directly across the street from the Aberdeen St entrance to the conference venue.
I know there is a web page where you can see route maps and timetable information. I"ll go and find it for you and see where the nearest Blue CAT stop is.

The Sheraton is in a good location near the river and close to the city. I like walking so I would call it walking distance (bout 20 min I imagine) to the conference venue but you should have a look at google maps. The conference venue is in Aberdeen St between William and Beaufort St. See what you think
Cheers
