Dave who teaches at TAFE has sent me this link to the 2007 diploma group. Look carefully and there is even a photo of me, yep in the black and white dress, looking happy. Well Claudia Karvan now owns that necklace, lucky her. She better get paparazzied in it.

Frosting Magazine is Australia's only Consumer Jewellery Fashion Magazine.

The launch issue is now on its way to over 800 newsstands Australia wide and it's time to start planning out the next issue. With our second edition going on sale in August, we want to see what you have in store for Spring.

So, if you have any newseventseditorial ideasphotographylookbooks and product shots that you would like to have featured, please send them through to editorial@frostingmagazine.com.

We have also just released our discounted subscription rates for students, which are available here http://www.frostingmagazine.com/student-subscription-offer/

twenty times???????????? oh this is killing me, and there are so many things happening in melbourne in the next few weeks too. maybe I will have a look at my finances again.

I will be at the jmga tonight, see who else might be going. That is a very kind offer Inari, will get back to you on that, although if I make it over I should have a friend's place to stay at, but would be nice to catch up.

Hi Cathy it was a crazy last minute trip to help speed settlement on our new home so we took in some of the sites also. I did a workshop with Sarah at Freo, cant make tonight every spare moment is taken up with packing :( ugh

That is very generous Inari, we stayed at the new South Warf Hilton, they have a special 2 for 1 offer a really good rate during the week :)

It really is FANTASTIC to have Schmuck here!! I've been to it twenty times already and just can't get enough!

Maybe I can do something to facilitate -- If any jewellers from Perth are interested in coming to Melbs to see it but think it's too difficult financially -- I can help with a guest room, my husband & I live relatively close to city and would always be happy to accommodate a fellow artist for a night or two. It is such an amazing experience to see so many contemporary makers all together, the materials, the techniques, the whole.

Hi Inari, I cant comment on the galleries and exhibitions over here but I was just at RMIT last week visiting the gallery and checking out the Schmuck and Johannes Kuhnen exhibitions, enjoyed them and Melbourne immensley :)

Hello! I'm a graphic designer approaching 40, newly embarked on a gold- and silversmithing course at RMIT. I used to study (and live, and work) in Perth where I did a couple of units of jewellery also at Curtin; now based in Melbourne I do really really really miss the bright beaches and the light, the blue skies... So I thought I'd join this group just to be reminded of what's going on back "home".

How do you guys find the galleries and exhibition opportunities in Perth at the moment; is there a "hopefulness" about future around the student circles? Cheers : ) inari

Hey Betty :) I am so looking forward to seeing the end result of your Mokume gane. I do extra work at home just to keep up with my Thursday night class ;)

Hi, Yvonne. It was nice to see you on Thursday night. I've no doubt that will be a frequent occurrence this year. For some reason, it seems to take me twice the time it should (if not longer) to complete the class exercises. If I don't put in extra time right from the start, I just won't keep up. So, extra time it is.
At least I'm in good company.
