Plaster Jewellery

The MA Project is a year-long, self directed study. I chose to focus on material research and development, exploring plaster as a main material in jewellery production. I discovered a way to chemically modify the plaster with modern products, and the result is a hard, durable plaster that is waterproof and very suitable for use as a main material in jewellery.

My interest in historical fashion and the decorative arts has given me a design agenda to pursue as I make my jewellery: I am interested in taking forms, patterns, and images from the rich history of fashion and decoration and reinterpreting these historical elements in a contemporary way and a modern material.
