The Final Frontier - Call for submissions at Gaffa Gallery

August 1, 2011 from 6pm to 7pm
Call for SubmissionsThe Final FrontierContemporary Jewellery Explorations of the Cinematic Future We all have a favourite science fiction film, and at some stage have been enthralled by the visions and interpretations of the fanciful future worlds they portray. These films often engage viewers by including social and political commentary, or are analogies for current events. In addition to this, it is the sheer visual seduction of these hypothetical realms that captivate us as makers.Science…See More

Kodama (return to me) by Yuko Fujita at e.g.etal at e.g.etal

July 15, 2010 at 6pm to July 31, 2010 at 5pm
Melbourne jeweller, Yuko Fujita, has transformed recycled objects of distinctly domestic and ordinary origins into bold pieces of jewellery. Fujita’s pieces herald a new beginning for these objects, while consciously reflecting on the many lives they may have had since beginning as a tree. Careful not to erase the memory of previous incarnations, Fujita has carved and chiselled each object by hand.Responding to an inaudible echo of the forest (Kodama), Fujita’s pieces recall imaginary plants,…See More

I received the info about your show from Erin Keys last week. I can pop it up on my blog if that's of any use to you? I will certainly spread the word through Part B too.

Thanks again, I'm still a little amazed by that one...

Hey Danae, good luck with the ballet of biting the bullet for the billet... I watched Gene and Hiroko Pijanowski firing mokume billets at one of the JMGA Conferences about twenty years ago.

Hey Danae, I really like what you're doing with those 'open cut' rings; apart from the interpretation of mining that they conjure, I also like the way that they funnel the focus on the finger as the ultimate destination for such mining. Nice concept...

Hi Danae

Its great to have you join up.

There is lots of stuff you can do on kit and caboodle - put images, news and events up, ask/answer stuff in the forums, join a group and yes, you can even pimp your page. Its easy to move elements around and to change the format of your page.

Just remember kit and caboodle is a public network, its aim is promotional, so be sure to only put up personal details that you are comfortable with. There are privacy and email options in the settings. (Gazillions of kit and caboodle emails in your inbox driving you bonkers? Check out how to fix that in FAQ on the right.)

Kit and caboodle is an ideal place to put up posts about exhibitions or any current news that you have. There is a lot of interest in the network. It would be great if you posted regularly in the blog, you can choose to have blog posts on your page and/or on the front page. Add some images and links too.

Also dont forget to join our facebook page. Say hi to Sonya.

Most of all, there are lots of opportunities to network with other jewellers, outlets, galleries and to see what is happening in the world of contemporary jewellery. It should be fun. Anytime you have a problem, or cant work something out, let me know.

Cheers
Cathy
