I work with precious metals, gems and resin. I am guided by the materials I use in establishing and exploring a visual lexicon that is peculiarly my own. Metal is not soft, I follow that. I am fascinated with how things work and how they are made. Thus my work reflects an attention to construction processes and a commitment to artisanal modes of production. Sometimes my work involves inversion - inversion of physical structures, as well as structures of social convention. Other times it involves the appropriation of basic building forms from history – pyramids, domes – to use on a smaller, more personal scale. I have a continuing fascination with micro-organisms, tessellations, geodesic domes, space travel and the aesthetics of futuristic architecture. I explore these apparently incongruent elements and interests in my work, finding ways to reconcile and marry the usually opposed aesthetic worlds of the organic and the industrial.

Hi
Thanks so much for joining. Its only early, and its great to have some brave souls kick it all off.
There is lots of stuff you can do on kit and caboodle (yep, all my kids have terrible names too) - put images, news and events up, ask/answer stuff in the forums, join a group, chat will be happening sometime soon, and yes, you can even pimp your page.
Just remember kit and caboodle is a public network, its aim is promotional, so be sure to only put up personal details that you are comfortable with. There are privacy and email options in the settings.
Anytime you have a problem, or cant work something out, let me know.
Cheers
Cathy
