My work explores the impact of new technologies on human relationship with material culture.
I am motivated by the concept that postmodern technologies often result in the manifestation of identity as a fluid entity. I aim to allow the user to convey this changing individuality through participation in the design process, so that the work is open to the wearers’ own expression of self over time.
Another thread that runs through my practice is the exploration of the potential of CAD, haptics and rapid prototyping processes to create entirely new forms based on nature; subverting a process that is fundamentally geometrical to create objects that appear to be completely organic.
These ideas are expressed through a series of organic rapid prototyped forms incorporating various technologies; often objects are constructed from modular units that allow the wearer to manipulate and transform the adornment as their sense of self changes
