David Neale Some and None : Jewellery as Graphics at metalab gallery

June 3, 2010 to July 1, 2010
Metalab is delighted to present Some and None : Jewellery as Graphics, a collection of jewellery created by Melbourne based goldsmith David Neale. In this body of work Neale borrows techniques from the graphics studio such as painting, collage and line-work, using them at the jeweller's bench to make signs for the body and to tell wearable stories. The result is an exquisite collection of finely crafted treasures for our times. For Neale, the visual power of jewellery is basic, lying in…See More

About
I am a Sydney based designer and maker of jewellery and objects, wearable sculpture and art.

I am driven by creativity, it keeps me afloat.

Some days I will wander content for hours. I love to take the time to explore, absorb and be inspired by the natural. The uncontrolled patterns and movements within the spatial and structural planes with which we live have greatly influenced my making.

I am curious about unusual and unorthodox materials. I pair plastics, paint and found objects with more traditional materials such as sterling silver.

In 2008, I graduated from the Design Centre, Enmore, Sydney, NSW.

Hi Jasmine

Its great to have you join up. You should see quite a few of your classmates on here!

There is lots of stuff you can do on kit and caboodle - put images, news and events up, ask/answer stuff in the forums, join a group and yes, you can even pimp your page.

Just remember kit and caboodle is a public network, its aim is promotional, so be sure to only put up personal details that you are comfortable with. There are privacy and email options in the settings. (Gazillions of kit and caboodle emails in your inbox driving you bonkers? Check out how to fix that in FAQ on the right.)

Kit and caboodle is an ideal place to put up posts about exhibitions or any current news that you have. There is a lot of interest in the network. It would be great if you posted regularly in the blog, you can choose to have blog posts on your page and/or on the front page. Add some images and links too.

Also dont forget to join our facebook page. Say hi to Sonya.

Most of all, there are lots of opportunities to network with other jewellers, outlets, galleries and to see what is happening in the world of contemporary jewellery. It should be fun. Anytime you have a problem, or cant work something out, let me know.

Cheers
Cathy
