About
Kathryn Wardill. Melbourne, Australia

Glass and metal have held my attention for more than 15 years. These materials have embedded themselves so deeply in me, that all I do this think about new ways to bring them together. Most of my work is made from combining multiples of the same element. So much can be expressed by repeating a single element. My jewellery objects are made to be enjoyed and worn, they are spontaneous, colourful, quirky, and whimsical.

As a prolific maker and I am never standing still in one jewellery place for very long, I never want to stay in my jewellery comfort zone. I try to push myself to a place where I am uncomfortable, with no idea what I am doing so that when I eventually resolve the problems of the piece I feel an unbelievable sense of achievement.

A circle has no beginning, therefore no end. One piece always informs the next.

Jewellery Shock

Which jewellery/body object really shocked you when you saw it, offended you, and made you think......

“I can’t believe they made/exhibited that”

Why did it push your buttons?

For positive or negative reasons, I would like to hear about it.

I am currently putting together a jewellery theory lecture to be presented in the USA in March 2010. Please respond & let me know who & why. kathrynwardill@hotmail.com

Hey K.,
If you haven't received your letter from Lark today, then you will be very soon, because I got mine today...
I got two declines and one acceptance, which I figure probably isn't too bad, because I bet they were inundated...
The hard part to get my head around is the basis for yea or nay. The acceptance was a slide transparency. The rebuts were digital, but shot by a pro... Was it the medium, or the message...?
Did you get your '500 silver' off in the post today?
Best wishes,
Phill.
