Not following any rules or guidelines traditionally related to the practice of enamelling, I have developed my own unique method of sifting and fusing it.
My aim is to try and stretch the boundaries of what can be achieved with enamels as a medium, thus introducing a different way of enamelling in the contemporary jewellery world as an alternative to what is already out there.
I am always intrigued in finding challenging ways of applying and fusing enamel on a base that is ‘moveable’.
My work comprises mainly brooches and necklaces made out of various designs of silver and gold chain alone, or chain attached onto a copper mesh base which are then enamelled.
Every piece created is part of a continuous and fascinating experimental journey which gives my work the freedom of constantly achieving something different and new. The appeal to me is that each piece is unique. My designs cannot be pre-conceived; each piece is allowed to create itself.
Any new discovery in one piece is the starting point for the next. This enables my work to progress technically as well as aesthetically. Discovery is the goal!
