About
Artist Profile of Peter Deckers
(curator, educator, maker)

Peter Deckers was born in the Netherlands and completed his early jewellery training and education there. He immigrated to New Zealand in 1985 and completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at Elam, Auckland University, in 2003.
"He looks for what he calls the 'surprising complexity' of things and then seeks to work his way into that complexity beneath a surface which at first can seem a kind of commonness, a sort of normality, neutrality or simplicity. Consequently, each work is unique. Deckers never repeats a design".
(Stevan Eldrid-Grigg, Choices of the Hand, 2006)

Peter is the coordinator of the jewellery course at Whitireia Polytechnic, Porirua, Wellington, New Zealand.

Hi
Thanks so much for joining. Its only early, and its great to have some brave souls kick it all off.
There is lots of stuff you can do on kit and caboodle - put images, news and events up, ask/answer stuff in the forums, join a group, chat will be happening sometime soon, and yes, you can even pimp your page.
Just remember kit and caboodle is a public network, its aim is promotional, so be sure to only put up personal details that you are comfortable with. There are privacy and email options in the settings.
Anytime you have a problem, or cant work something out, let me know.
Cheers
Cathy
