Me.....
I was from Burma and arrived Australia in 2005. I decided to start new career in new place. I then studied Diploma of jewellery and object design at Design Centre Enmore. I am still studying there for jewellery manufacturing.
My works.....
My works are mostly related to Myanmar (Burma) where I grow up. The influences from my background take me to develop a concept to work with. Bringing my past experiences into my works is exciting. Presenting Burmese culture in contemporary context is a challenge for me.
I like working with metals. They are harder but they can be formed into shapes and forms. It needs lots of experiments and patience to achieve the manipulation of metals. I enjoy solving the problems during the process of changing metal sheet into a form or flow. Sometimes I don’t know where I was going exactly but my experiments lead me a way. I want my works to be quiet and meaningful therefore I don’t keep them highly polished.
My works are dialogues of my thoughts. They are not only to wear as jewellery or to decorate as objects. I would like the viewer to talk or discuss on my works. They are the stories written by craft skills.

Kit and caboodle is an ideal place to put up posts about exhibitions or any current news that you have. There is a lot of interest in the network. Also dont forget to join our facebook page. Say hi to Sonya.
Most of all, there are lots of opportunities to network with other jewellers, outlets, galleries and to see what is happening in the world of contemporary jewellery. It should be fun. Anytime you have a problem, or cant work something out, let me know.
