Have a Bachelor or Arts (Jewellery Design) and halfway through a Diploma in Gemmology
Just starting to form my own label, Bocken by Sarah McLoughlin and hopefully an exhibition in the next few years of a new body of work
Will have a piece in Grad Metal 12 at next years JMGA Conference
I like to experiment with stitch/use of thread within my work, perforated plastic, acrylic sheet, copper wire. I think gold is best used in small accents. I like to make rings because they can be playful and fun and they are the type of jewellery that I enjoy wearing
Hi Sarah
you probably just werent logged in, even i forget sometimes. try again and get back to me if it still is a problem.
Let me know when you get up to valuing gemstones. I have an Alexandrite that I would really like to know if it is real or not, my mother was given it by an Indian jeweller for saving his daughter's life, but no jeweller I know has ever seen a real one, and they just all go it must be fake, which I am positive it isnt. Austudy doesnt extend to gemstone valutations, barely extends to petrol!!!!!!
Good luck with your cramming, I have heard its a hard course.
Cheers
Cathy
Its great to have you join up. Do you have a few units to finish off still? I am so over doing assignments!!!!!
There is lots of stuff you can do on kit and caboodle - put images, news and events up, ask/answer stuff in the forums, join a group and yes, you can even pimp your page. Its easy to move elements around and to change the format of your page.
Just remember kit and caboodle is a public network, its aim is promotional, so be sure to only put up personal details that you are comfortable with. There are privacy and email options in the settings. (Gazillions of kit and caboodle emails in your inbox driving you bonkers? Check out how to fix that in FAQ on the right.)
Kit and caboodle is an ideal place to put up posts about exhibitions or any current news that you have. There is a lot of interest in the network. It would be great if you posted regularly in the blog, you can choose to have blog posts on your page and/or on the front page. Add some images and links too.
Also dont forget to join our facebook page. Say hi to Sonya.
Most of all, there are lots of opportunities to network with other jewellers, outlets, galleries and to see what is happening in the world of contemporary jewellery. It should be fun. Anytime you have a problem, or cant work something out, let me know.
