I am a contemporary jeweller who was initially self taught.
Prior to studying at TAFE I learned Lapidary, faceting and making some jewellery using sterling silver.
I started by making many chains using the vast varieties of chainmaille weaves as well as different types of wire weaving and braiding. With learning these skills I began designing a few of my own chains and making rings, pendants and earrings.
With my faceting knowledge I needed to know how to make intricate settings to set some of my prize winning stones.
I enrolled in the Advanced Diploma of Jewellery and Object design course at TAFE, this also gave me the opportunity to be employed in the industry and work alongside a jeweller.
I have my own studio/workshop.
I have not settled on an area of specialty, I enjoy experimenting with many different techniques and coming up with a broad range of designs.
I like to make limited edition pieces and one offs, using different sources of inspiration.
Hi Patricia
Thanks so much for joining.
There is lots of stuff you can do on kit and caboodle - put images, news and events up, ask/answer stuff in the forums, join a group, chat will be happening sometime soon, and yes, you can even pimp your page.
Just remember kit and caboodle is a public network, its aim is promotional, so be sure to only put up personal details that you are comfortable with. There are privacy and email options in the settings.
Anytime you have a problem, or cant work something out, let me know.
Cheers
Cathy
