About
I'm about average hight, I wear glasses and I like to drink beer. Now you may ask, what has this got to do with my work? I would have to admit that this is an excellent question to pose. With my arms flailing around in the air and in an excitable tone I would reply to you, “Everything!! It has everything to do with my work!”. I would then calm down and sink into a deep discussion about why it is that I decided to make Jewellery out of books pertaining to Jewellery or why in fact that I’m drawn to the aesthetic of certain architecture. Words such as, humor, simplicity, structure would be bandied about and much laughter would ensue, I would suggest that perhaps we might go for a beer and continue our conversation. After ordering a round of Coopers we would begin an intense discussion about the state of the Contemporary Jewellery scene in Australia. Following a few more beers, and perhaps a cider we would part ways with the adrenalin pumping through our bodies that only comes with amazing conversation. That would be rather pleasant don’t you think?

But perhaps you're more interested in the fact that I have just graduated from the Jewellery and Object Design Department at the Design Centre, Enmore.

Looking back at the last few years I have noticed several common threads that flow through my work. Principally the involvement of the wearer or observer in a piece, whether it is physical participation in the work or by prompting the audience to question the work, it is a decision I consciously consider when exploring my initial concepts. This communication is of primary concern to me, to initiate, to introduce and to inform those outside our community as well as engaging with those inside with interesting ideas.

Another thread is that of humour. To me humour is the stuff of legends, it lightens the heart and puts a smile on one's face and it makes life just that much sweeter. It can engage a viewer and close boundaries that can appear between a piece and the observer, and can allow a greater understanding of the work.

Alter Ego - The Other I

Like to play somebody you couldn’t possibly be in the real world? Create an alternative personality or persona? Become your own alter ego?

This exhibition invites designers across various disciplines to create an alter ego for themselves and use this creation as a means to push boundaries, explore ideas and create works that they may never have dared to if they were creating as “themselves”.

Exhibiting Designers,… Continue

Hi Zoe,

I'm organising a hand-made jewellery market & think your creations would be a perfect fit.

“A Little Bazaar” is all about out-of-the-ordinary hand-made jewellery and objects.
The focus of this event is to celebrate you - the designer, your concepts and
your creations. A little market that’s a little... bizarre.

The market will take place in The Beresford Hotel’s courtyard, 354 Bourke
Street, Darlinghurst NSW, opposite from the Object Gallery on the 26th of
September, the last Saturday of the month. The bazaar will get bustling from
11am - 6pm.

The day should be a lot fun but in the end, will be great platform for promoting your brand to consumers who are looking for quality jewellery, as well as a great sales opportunity.

We have had success hosting similar events in the past including Fringe Bar markets & Art Market.

There are already over 25 designers on board and please visit http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=123771226327&ref=nf to see some of their works as well as the attached flyer for a summary of the details.

If you're interested or have any other questions, please email me for an application form - alittlebazaar@dialoguepr.com.au

Hope to hear from you soon!
