CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY NETWORK

‘Geometric Note’ - new work by Korean Jeweller Hyun-seok Sim opens 26th July 2011

In conjunction with the Sydney Design 2011 festival program, Studio 20/17 will be exhibiting work by Korean jeweller, Hyun-seok Sim.

Hyun-seok has exhibited extensively in Korea, Japan and USA . In this exhibition, by reworking, recycling and reconfiguring the every day subject, chairs, tables and geometric forms, with his clear modern aesthetic of geometric bas reliefs, he manages to reinvent the known, the familiar to make 'the old' new again. Jewellery becomes a way to refresh our vision of the old familiar world.

Hyun-seok perceives the body as the gallery, or public sculptural space, and jewellery as sculpture for the body. With this in mind, he considers the harmony between wearer, viewer and artwork. Exhibition dates: 26th July - 6th August 2011.
