handSTAND exhibition
handSTAND, unfamiliar and innovative Contemporary NZ Jewellery
Standing on your head is not common. Nor is the exhibition and catalogue titled handSTAND. Twenty One emerging contemporary jewellery artists from around NZ have performed a special handstand of their own, presented as the feature exhibition of the 2009 NZ jewellery show.
Curator Peter Deckers (educator and established contemporary jeweller from Wellington) has brought together the handSTAND exhibition, with the latest from participating emerging jewellery artists in a variety of artistic styles and media. Their work reflects innovative and unusual solutions in the merger of ideas, materials and designs.
handSTAND showcases a wide overview of the next generation’s focus in NZ contemporary jewellery.
A special catalogue including the work and statements of all participating artists and well known art-craft writers is available at the exhibition and Fingers, Auckland.
