CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY NETWORK

Three days into making and the works are starting to take shape. This RJM is being held across a lot of different campuses with so many different people making I am really looking forward to seeing the works that emerge.  I saw a lot of the donated jewellery during sorting, but I now realise it was only a small portion of the whole.  I was struck by how many figurative and represenational pieces werer donated and I'll be interested to see how participants tackle working with these.

I've so far been spending most of my time at the Institute of American Indian Arts .This is an impressive institution, the facilities and the location is amazing.

The deadline for participating jewellers to stop making and start delivering is drawing near. We've already received about 30 pieces and with 100 jewellers participating we know we are set to receive many more...
It is going to be a busy afternoon. The works need to be cataloged, documented and priced. And if that isn't enough to keep us busy, there will be an "Ethical Jewelry: A Roundtable Discussion" starting at 2 PM. The discussion will be opened by Ethical Metalsmiths and lead by international leaders in the Ethical Jewellery Movement – Marc Choyt, Greg Valerio and Toby Pomeroy.
