Welcome Signs: Contemporary Interpretations of Contemporary GarlandsExpressions of Interest for an exhibition of jewellery from Asia Pacific region
The World Craft Council are organising an international jewellery convention in Delhi next year. This will feature a survey of jewellery that draws in innovative ways from traditional practices.
Expressions of interest are currently sought from jewellers or organisations representing jewellers for a survey of jewellery from the Asia Pacific region. A main focus will be the necklace, in particular jewellery that evokes the tradition of the garland in its various guises. This ranges from religious ceremony to adornment for welcome. It can include necklaces that replace organic material such as flower petals with more enduring materials such as metal.
It is hoped that this exhibition not only demonstrates the lively creative jewellery work in our region, but also the spirit of hospitality that endures in our globalising world.
